Angul: In a tragic incident, a youth lost his life while bursting firecrackers during a marriage procession at Genguthia village under Rengali police limits in Angul district on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the youth, whose identity has not yet been established, was carrying a bag containing over 20 firecrackers while participating in the procession. A spark from one of the firecrackers he was handling accidentally ignited the contents of the bag, causing a massive explosion.
The impact of the blast was so severe that the youth was thrown nearly 20 feet into the air and died instantly.
Upon receiving information, the Rengali police initiated an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased was a resident of Santhapada village in the Talcher area.
The unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with improper handling of firecrackers.
