Baripada: The body of a youth was recovered from a pond at Badadundu under Bahalda police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
The deceased youth has been identified as Zakir Hussain (37).
According to reports, Hussain hailed from Motihari district of Bihar and was engaged in the trade of glassware. On Friday night he had gone to the pond for a wash and did not return. His friends searched for him in the night but in vain.
Today morning villagers saw his body floating in the pond and informed the Fire Service and police. Fire Service personnel retrieved the body from the pond. Bahalda police seized the body and sent it to Rairangpur Sub Divisional Hospital for post-mortem.
Bahalda police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the matter.
