Kabisuryanagar (Ganjam): The body of a youth was recovered near Malagudia Chhak under Kabisuryanagar police station limits in Ganjam district on Friday, with his family alleging that he was taken away from home by a group of youths before being murdered.
The deceased was identified as Narayan Pradhan of Dunguri village. According to his family members, some youths had called him from his house and taken him away. He was suspected to have been subsequently murdered.
Family members found his body lying near Malagudia Chhak on Friday morning and informed the police.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Narayan had been assaulted on the head and face with wooden sticks and liquor bottles, sources said.
Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Asika Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The circumstances leading to the alleged murder, as well as the identity of those involved and the motive behind the crime, remain unclear. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
