Sambalpur: Tension gripped the outskirts of Sambalpur on Tuesday after the blood-soaked body of a young man was recovered near Lakshmi Dunguri hill under Khetrajpur police station, close to Hirakud. The deceased was identified as Abhaya Kumar Das, a resident of the Hirakud ITI area.
According to family members, Abhaya had left for Sambalpur on Monday afternoon to visit his uncle, who had undergone surgery at a private hospital. While he was there, he reportedly received multiple phone calls. After the last call, Abhaya went out to meet the caller and did not return home.
This afternoon, his body was discovered by locals near the foothills of Lakshmi Dunguri. They immediately alerted the police, who reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
The family has alleged that Abhaya was murdered. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to his death and identify those involved.
