Cuttack: A youth went missing in river Mahanadi near Sahanga Gopalpur village under Banki police limits in Cuttack district after falling into the river from a country boat during a joyride on Thursday.
While the exact identity of the missing youth has not been established yet, he hails from Saptasajya area of Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, the missing youth was on a visit to a relative’s house in Sahanga Gopalpur village. Accompanied by a few friends, he had gone on a country boat for a joyride in river Mahanadi. During the joyride, he fell off the boat. While trying to rescue him the country boat capsized. While others on the boat managed to swim ashore following the boat capsize, he remained missing.
Fire Service personnel and locals have launched a search operation to rescue the missing youth.
