Jharsuguda: A 25-year-old youth was killed while he was asleep on the veranda of his house at Lalumunda village under Lakhanpur police station in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Bhoi, a resident of Suladia Lalumunda village.
According to reports, Pradeep was sleeping on the veranda of his house when unidentified assailants attacked him late at night. The attackers allegedly slit his throat with a sharp weapon, leading to his death on the spot.
On receiving information, Lakhanpur police rushed to the scene along with a scientific team and a dog squad. The area was cordoned off, and an investigation has been launched.
