Rourkela: In a shocking incident, a youth killed his friend over petty altercation at Hilltop market under Jhirapani police limits in Rourkela on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Nihar Ranjan Acharya (42) of Baratoli area while the accused has been identified as Kebala Singh.
Nihar was looking after buying and selling of old vehicles. Both Singh and Nihar engaged in an altercation over some business issues on Friday evening. An enraged Singh attacked Nihar with a sharp weapon before fleeing the scene.
Nihar was rushed to Ispat General Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Meanwhile, police sent Nihar’s body for post-mortem.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police reached the spot and started investigation into it.
Police, meanwhile, arrested Singh after interrogating him.
