Bhubaneswar: A youth went missing after being swept away by a strong current at the Garjan Khol waterfall in Nagira Panchayat under Pallahara sub-division in Angul district, on Saturday.
The missing youth has been identified as Lipun Behera, a resident of Balarai village in Keonjhar.
According to reports, Lipun, along with two friends, visited the waterfall to bathe and record videos for social media. While bathing in the upper section of the waterfall, Lipun was caught off guard by a strong current caused by recent rains and was dragged into the deep pool at the base.
His friends lost the mobile phone used for recording during the incident. Despite immediate efforts by his friends and local residents to locate him, Lipun remains missing.
Upon being informed, the Bansapal fire service team rushed to the spot and launched a search operation but was unable to trace the missing youth. The search was still underway at the time of reporting.
