Bhubaneswar: A 30-year-old youth reportedly attempted to immolate himself by setting himself on fire on the premises of a private college under the Khandagiri police station area in Bhubaneswar.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the youth’s dispute with his siblings led to the desperate act.

According to reports, the youth, a native of Binjharpur in Jajpur district, worked as an attendant at the private college. He reportedly took the extreme step after having a dispute with his siblings. He suffered 15% burns and was rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar.

Khandagiri police, meanwhile, have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to ascertain the exact circumstances that compelled him to commit suicide by immolating himself.
