Bhubaneswar: At a time when poll violence is on the peak at Khallikote in Ganjam district following the death of a person due to clash between BJD and BJP workers, another firing incident at Polsara in the district has added headache to police.
According to sources, a youth sustained injuries in a firing over political rivalry at Polsara in Ganjam district. The injured been identified as Ganesh Khatei.
According to sources, Ganesh was standing on roadside when bike-borne miscreants opened fire at him and fled the scene.
Onlookers rescued Ganesh and rushed him to Polsara Community Health Centre. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Political rivalry is stated to be reason behind the shooting as the injured is a supporter of a political party.
Police, meanwhile, began a probe into the matter based on the CCTV footage.
