Balasore: A youth sustained injuries on Sunday after being stabbed by five miscreants during Ram Navami celebrations at Soro in Balasore district.

The injured has been identified as Santosh Kumar Sahu, a resident of Chittol village in Balasore district.

According to reports, people from various areas had gathered in Soro for the Ram Navami celebrations. Santosh was among the crowd and was standing near the Soro Court Square in the afternoon when five unidentified miscreants arrived—riding two bikes and a scooter—and suddenly attacked him with a sharp knife. He suffered serious injuries to his hands, head, and back.

Locals immediately came to his rescue and rushed him to the Soro Community Health Centre (CHC). As his condition worsened, he was later shifted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for further treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.

Upon receiving information, Soro police reached the spot and launched an investigation. However, the motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
