Dhenkanal: In a gory incident, a youth was found brutally stoned to death in the Chaitanya Gosain mutt premises at Mandara village under Gondia police limits in Dhenkanal district today.
The deceased youth has been identified as one Uddhav Patra of Baji Chhak locality in Bhuban Notified Area Council (NAC).
On being informed, Gondia police have launched an investigation into the ghastly incident.
Police have seized the body and have detained the Mahant of the mutt Baba Dasarath for questioning.
According to reports, Uddhav was bludgeoned to death with a stone inside the mutt premises. A bike and a blood-stained boulder were found near the body of Uddhav.
Police suspect the role of the Mahant in the murder.
Deceased Uddhav earned a living by collecting iron and other scraps from villagers and then sold it to scrap dealers for a profit.
Locals and family members have demanded justice for Uddhav.
