Bolangir: A youth was found dead in mysterious conditions at Jhupudipada under Kantabanji police limits in Bolangir district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Jagannath Gahir, a resident of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.

According to sources, Jagannath had come to visit his uncle-in-law Satya Narayan Bag at Jhupudipada on Monday. He went to bed after having dinner. Satya and his family members did not find him at the house after waking up in the morning. However, his blood-soaked body was found lying on the roadside a few meters away from his relatives’ house.  He was found with severe injuries on his head.

His uncle rushed him to the Kantabanji Community Health Centre where he was declared brought dead. Doctor attributed his death to profuse bleeding and severe injuries on his head.

Meanwhile, Kantabanji police started a probe into the matter and interrogated his uncle.

It is suspected that he was killed brutally before being dumped on the roadside. The exact cause behind Jagannath’s death will be ascertained after the post-mortem, police sources said.
