Sundargarh: Tension ran high at Bileimunda Square under Hemagiri police limits in Sundargarh district following the death of youth in a road mishap, on Tuesday.
According to sources, a local youth identified as Lokanath Pradhan died after being run over by a trailer truck. Pradhan’s death sparked tension with locals staging a road blockade demanding the construction of a bypass road apart from compensation for the deceased’s family.
Besides, the agitator demanded the district administration to prohibit the plying of heavy vehicles on village roads.
On a tip-off, Hemagiri Tehsildar and police reached the spot and pacified the villagers.
