Moscow: Eight people were injured in a Ukrainian unmanned boat attack on the embankment in the Russian city of Sochi, according to the Kuban Emergency Response Center.

A fire broke out along the Sochi embankment following the unmanned boat attack on Wednesday, reports Xinhua news agency.

As a result, “the beach infrastructure and a nearby section of the Primorskaya Embankment have sustained partial damage. Operational and special services are working at the scene,” the centre said in a statement.

Five of the injured were transported to medical facilities, while the other three received necessary medical assistance at the scene, the centre said.

Earlier on Wednesday, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian forces have struck a naval base in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region.

A terminal used to load oil, military port facilities, and warships carrying Kalibr missiles were hit at the base in the city of Novorossiysk, Zelensky said in an X post.

He said the strikes were carried out as part of retaliatory efforts following Russian attacks on Ukraine.

The operation was jointly conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Ukrainian Navy, the Defence Intelligence, and the State Border Guard Service, said Zelensky.

Russian forces carried out a series of strikes against Ukrainian military and logistics facilities, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday.

According to an official statement, the strikes targeted military-industrial sites, seaports, vessels and logistics hubs in Kyiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa.

A facility producing unmanned boats and drones was struck in Kyiv, while a dry cargo ship carrying military supplies was hit on its way to the port of Odesa, the ministry said.

Multiple targets in Mykolaiv and the surrounding region were also struck, including four fuel and lubricant storage tanks at seaports, a military property storage facility, five military logistics centres, three military storage facilities and an electrical substation supplying power to the port.

The strikes also hit logistics facilities at the Starokozache automobile border crossing point, which is used to deliver military cargo to Ukraine, the ministry said.
