New Delhi: During Operation Amistad, India’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission in earthquake-affected Venezuela, the engineering support component of the Shatrujeet Task Force played a crucial role in establishing and sustaining the Indian Army’s field hospital under challenging conditions.

The Indian Army said the Shatrujeet Eagles were instrumental in ensuring that the field hospital remained fully operational by repairing and maintaining critical medical and electrical equipment. Their efforts helped restore essential systems, enabling uninterrupted healthcare delivery to people affected by the devastating earthquakes.

From restoring life-saving medical devices to installing and maintaining vital electrical infrastructure, the engineering team ensured the rapid operationalisation of the hospital and kept it mission-ready throughout the relief effort.

Working behind the scenes, these Warrior Craftsmen combined technical expertise, innovation and unwavering dedication to support frontline medical teams. Their contribution ensured that timely and effective medical assistance could reach those in need during the disaster response mission.

The Indian Army said in a statement: “Through their commitment to excellence and selfless service, the Indian Army once again reaffirmed India’s role as a trusted first responder, delivering hope and humanitarian assistance when it was needed most.”

The engineering support provided by the Shatrujeet Task Force formed a vital part of India’s overall relief efforts in Venezuela, where the Indian Army deployed medical capabilities to assist communities impacted by the earthquakes.

Earlier, under the just-concluded Operation Amistad, the Indian Army’s Field Hospital provided critical assistance and medical care to hundreds of earthquake-affected people. The field hospital carried out more than 8,000 medical procedures and laboratory investigations, including over 20 major surgeries, as part of the relief operations.

The Indian contingent returned home on Friday after the successful completion of the operation. Following the mission, Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Eloina Rodriguez Gomez thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for India’s timely assistance, support and solidarity during the crisis.

Operation Amistad highlighted India’s commitment to extending humanitarian assistance beyond its borders and supporting nations affected by natural disasters through rapid response, medical aid and specialised disaster relief capabilities.
