Kuwait Says Air Defences Intercept Hostile Drones, Condemns Iranian Attacks

Kuwait: Kuwait’s armed forces said Thursday that the country’s air defence systems were responding to hostile drones, urging the public to follow safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

In a statement posted on X, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces said explosions heard across parts of the country were the result of air defence systems intercepting hostile drones.

The military did not immediately provide details on the number of drones intercepted, their origin, or whether the incident had caused any casualties or damage, Xinhua news agency reported.

Separately, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as Iran’s “continued aggression” against Kuwait’s territory, calling it a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty.

The ministry said Kuwait held Iran “fully responsible” for the attacks and their consequences, warning that continued strikes against Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council states would further escalate tensions and undermine regional security and stability.

Meanwhile, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) said on Thursday that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed new Iranian aerial attacks targeting Bahrain.

In a statement, the BDF said Iran continued what it described as a “systematic hostile approach” through missile and drone attacks targeting civilians in the kingdom.

It confirmed that all BDF units remain at the highest levels of readiness and full defensive preparedness to protect the kingdom.

The general command urged the public to exercise caution and avoid approaching or handling any unfamiliar or suspicious objects resulting from the attacks’ remnants.

Earlier in the day Jordan’s air defense systems shot down eight Iranian missiles targeting the kingdom, according to a Jordan Armed Forces statement.

No casualties or material damage were reported. Royal Engineering Corps teams had dealt with missile debris that fell at several locations and secured the sites in accordance with approved technical and security procedures, the statement added.

The statement stressed that the Jordan Armed Forces remain at the highest level of readiness as they continue to monitor the kingdom’s airspace and will respond to any threat in accordance with the approved rules of engagement.
