Bhubaneswar: The sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in Odisha has also been recorded earlier in other states. The rate of doubling and tripling of positivity rate is similar, said Health Services Director Bijay Mohapatra on Wednesday.
He said that as stated earlier, the transmissibility of the Omicron variant is very high. Delhi recorded a 3 % jump in positivity rate within a week; a similar scenario can be witnessed in Odisha.
The focus should be on breaking the transmissibility chain in the community. Besides, as instructed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the health system in the State has been mobilised to deal with any possible surge, added Mohapatra.
