Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik mourned the death of renowned Odia musician, singer, lyricist, writer, and columnist Prafulla Kar and announced that the last rites of Kar will be held with full national honours.
Patnaik has directed Law Minister Pratap Jena and School & Mass Education Minister Sameer Dash to attend the funeral of Kar at Puri and pay their last respects. Sanjay Das Burma, Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board, will also attend the funeral.
Patnaik said that Kar has set many glorious records as a lyricist and music director. His demise marked the end of an era in the Odia music industry. His unique musical style and direction will forever immortalise him in the hearts of the people.
The Chief Minister extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Kar breathed his last on Sunday at the age of 83. He suffered cardiac arrest at around 9 pm and succumbed.
