Rayagada: Rayagada Superintendent of Police today suspended an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and two Havildars over the escape of a murder accused from Kalyansinghpur police station.
Havildars Ranga Rao Mandangi, Dambaru Pidisika, and ASI Manoj Mallik have been suspended by the SP with immediate effect on charges of dereliction of duty, reports said.
Worth mentioning, on December 27 two brothers of Lamba village in the Niyamgiri hills had a quarrel over Kandula Parva (Kandula festival).
Angered over the incident, Dambaru Pusika hacked his younger brother Minduruku to death with an axe in the evening.
After villagers informed at the police station, the latter visited Lamba village three days after the incident, seized the body, and took the accused into custody for questioning at the police station.
The accused was to be forwarded to court today. However, the accused managed to give a slip to the police on the pretext of going to the toilet.
