Kendrapara: A man accused in five cases was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified miscreants on the Canal embankment near Dhumata under Nikirai police station in Kendrapara district.
Though the reason of the murder is unclear, past enmity is stated to be the cause of the crime.
Police have declined to comment on the incident.
The man, identified as Trilochan Mallik is a resident of Charigaon in Kendrapara.
According to police reports, he was accused in more than five different cases which are pending in several police stations in the district.
Trilochan had allegedly attacked his uncle a year ago with a stick, in which his uncle suffered leg and hand fracture.
Trilochan’s mother said, “One Bikash called my son (Trilochan) from home. Then Muna and some others murdered him”.
Police, meanwhile, launched an investigation after registering a case.
