Eminent Cardiologist Dr JP Das Passes Away At 90

Bhubaneswar: Renowned cardiologist Dr Jadunath Prasad Das, popularly known as Dr JP Das, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening. He was 90.

During his final moments, Das was surrounded by his wife Gayatri Das, a dedicated social worker, son Dr Debabrata Das, daughter-in-law Bidya Das, and granddaughter Ishani Das.

According to reports, Dr Das has been suffering from age-related issues. Soon after the news of his demise spread, condolence messages started pouring in from various quarters, including doctors and noted personalities.

Born on August 5, 1933, in Khurdha, Dr Das joined SCB Medical College and Hospital as a professor in 1962. He was the first cardiologist at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Later, he served as the head of the department of the cardiology department at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He later set up a Cardiology Research Centre in Cuttack. Dr Das authored scientific papers, received numerous awards, and was also known for his social activities.
