Bolangir: A villager was critically injured after being trampled by an elephant in Luhurenpali village in Udar panchayat under Deogaon police limits in Odisha’s Bolangir district on Monday morning.

The victim, who has been admitted to Bhimabhoi Medical College and Hospital in the district, has been identified as Ravi Manjhi.

According to reports, a herd of 10 elephants has been roaming in the area and creating panic among the local residents in the Raipali area of the Deogaon forest range for the past 15 days. Today morning, Ravi encountered a rampaging elephant when he was on his way to the field. The marauding elephant trampled him under its feet but was somehow rescued by other villagers and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
