Youth Drowns In Canal During Boita Bandana In Angul

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a youth drowned in a water body while floating tiny boat on occasion of Karttika Purnima in Pallahara area of Angul district.

The incident took place in the wee hours when people were soaked in a spiritual fervour for Baoita Bandan utsav.

Ashish Sahu of Chasha Gurujang village of Pallahara went to the Right canal at Samal for Boita Bandan programme. While floating his miniature boat in the canal, he slipped into deep water and drowned.

Others launched a search after informing the fire services department.

People saw his body floating a few meters away.

The police and fire brigade recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
