Bhubaneswar: Odisha experienced a slight rise in temperature during the last 24 hours amidst shallow to dense fog occurring at several places on Tuesday. Only six places in the state recorded minimum temperatures (nighttime temperatures) below 10°C.
According to the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Kirei in Sundargarh was the coldest place in the state recording 8°C. Other places that recorded minimum temperatures of below 10°C include Sundargarh (9.6°C), Koraput (9.2°C), Rourkela (9.8°C), and G Udayagiri (10°C).
The minimum temperatures in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were 18°C and 19.1°C, respectively.
Meanwhile, dense fog occurred in Cuttack, Nayagarh, Bolangir, and Daringbadi on Tuesday morning. Shallow to moderate fog occurred in Bhawanipatna and Baripada. Shallow to moderate fog may occur across the state during next the two days.
The IMD has forecast light rain in several places in the state on January 17 and 18. Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Mayurbhanj may experience light showers on January 17, while light rain is likely in some places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak on January 18.
