Bhubaneswar: Five persons including the husband of Bogada Gram Panchayat under Tigiria police station in Cuttack sustained critical
injuries in a violent group clash during Holi celebration on Tuesday.
All the injured have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after primary treatment at Tigiria health centre.

According to reports, Bogada sarpanch Sharmila Naik’s husband and brother in-law went to the local market to buy some articles. Her rival group was celebrating Holi in the market. Some of them passed comment to the supporters of the sarpanch.When her husband opposed it, members of rival camps attacked them. The incident turned violent following exchange of attack between the two groups.
Members of both the groups have suffered injuries on head and the body.
The sarpanch also alleged that her rival camp members vandalized her house and broke the CCTV cameras installed on the premises of the house.
While the exact reason remains unclear, political rivalry is suspected to be reason of the clash.
After receiving information, a platoon of forces led by Athagarh DSP reached the village and took stock of the situation. As tension continues, forces have been deployed in the village.
An investigation has been launched into the incident, police said.
