Bhubaneswar: The temperature has started shooting across Odisha since early Wednesday morning as 13 places in the state recorded temperatures above 32°C at 8.30 am today.
Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district was the hottest place in the state recording 34.8°C and Talcher and Balasore came close second at 34.4°C. Capital city Bhubaneswar recorded 33.4°C.
The temperatures recorded at various places in Odisha at 8.30 am today are as below:
- Bhawanipatna: 34.8°C
- Talcher: 34.4°C
- Balasore: 34°C
- Baripada: 33.6°C
- Bhubaneswar: 33.4°C
- Chandali: 33.2°C
- Jagatsinghpur: 33.2°C
- Hirakud: 32.8°C
- Keonjhar: 32.4°C
- Jharsuguda: 32.4°C
- Titlagarh: 32°C
- Boudh: 32°C
- Puri: 32°C
The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has warned that the day temperatures (maximum temperature) may cross 45°C within the next two to three days in some places in Odisha.
Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Angul, and Boudh today.
Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
According to the IMD, the heat will be unbearable in many places. It has advised people to avoid going outdoors between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm.
