Bhubaneswar: BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) saying that the ‘corrupt’ government needs to be changed in the state.
Addressing the party’s Vijay Sankalp Samavesh at Ambapua in Odisha’s Berhampur district, Nadda alleged that efforts are on by the BJD to thrust an ‘outsider’ to head the state government after the ensuing Assembly elections. Nadda said that such a move was deplorable and urged the electorate to thwart any such move by the BJD. He asked, “Is there no leader in Odisha who can take over the administration? Don’t you have a son of soil who can lead this culturally and mineral-rich state?”
Stating that the BJP will not allow such plans of the BJD to see the light of day, Nadda appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise in favour of the BJP in the upcoming twin elections in the state.
At the same time, the BJP national president urged the people to vote for the BJP to form governments at the Centre as well as the state. Nadda said, “This election is not just about electing the BJP in the Lok Sabha and the party’s MLA candidates from the Berhampur Parliamentary constituency… it’s about helping Prime Minister Narendra Modi to realise the goal of a viksit (developed) Bharat.”
Highlighting initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nadda said India will become the third largest economy in the world under the leadership of Modi in his third term as the Prime Minister.
Nadda said that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana is not being implemented in Odisha and, similarly, the welfare schemes launched by the Centre are not reaching the people in the state. “Therefore, it is essential to change the existing government in Odisha,” he added.
Nadda arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at around 6.00 pm and then flew to Rangeilunda airstrip in a helicopter. Senior state party leaders, including BJP state unit president Manmohan Samal, national vice-president Baijayant Panda and the party’s candidate for the Berhampur Lok Sabha seat Pradeep Panigrahy welcomed him at the meeting venue in Ambapua.
