Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience paradoxical weather conditions on Monday as the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning in 10 districts while predicting hot and humid conditions in 11 other districts.
According to the weather office, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at one or two places in south Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha on Monday.
Thunderstorms with lightning are also very likely to occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal.
At the same time, hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati in Odisha today, the IMD predicted.
The weather office has also predicted light to moderate rain/thundershowers in a few places in north interior Odisha, Jajpur, and Cuttack and one or two places in Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
Simultaneously, heatwave conditions are very likely to occur in one or two places in Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.
