Bhubaneswar: BJD leader and Khurda MLA Jitu Mitra today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in an unusual way during the road-show carried out by BJP’s Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha candidate Aparajita Sarangi and MLA nominee from Khurda Prashant Jagdev.
The legislator appeared all of a sudden in the road show and announced his joining in the saffron party. He also campaigned for Aparajita Sarangi and Prasahnt Jagdev, participating in the road-show. Sarangi welcomed him to the party.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only alternative which can uphold Odisha’s pride and Odia Asmita and take forward the development agenda in the State. The BJP is going to form government in the State,” Jitu Mitra said after joining the BJP formally.
Aparajita, who is also the sitting MP from Bhubaneswar, welcomed him to the party and said that Mita’s joining was highly solicited.
“Jitu Mitra Ji is an experienced leader. His joining would definitely strengthen our party in Khurdha. During my tenure as the Khurda Collector, he was acting as my guide and advisor. I and BJP MLA candidate Prashant Jagdev are very much after greeting such a popular leader with us. We greatly need his experience and knowledge. I welcome him to the party,” Sarangi said.
His joining will make huge impact even on the last day of campaigning, Sarangi added.
Mitra is said to be disappointed after BJD denied him a ticket to contest the election this time.
