Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has warned the empanelled private hospital of strict action in case of refusal of cashless treatment to poor patients under the health care scheme.
Amid a number of allegations of private hospitals refusing treatment to BSKY beneficiaries, the Odisha Chief Secretary PK Jena clarified that the yojana is continuing and no hospital can deny treatment to patients.
“The BSKY scheme is functioning and the cashless treatment at all private hospitals is also continuing. No BSKY-empanelled hospital can show negligence towards the treatment of beneficiaries and make premature discharge of patients. The BSKY Yojana will continue until the new government takes any decision on the matter,” Jena said in a video message.
If any such hospitals don’t cooperate with the BSKY beneficiaries, people can dial the help line ‘104’ to lodge their complaints. The Health and Family Welfare Department will initiate action against the concerned health centre, the chief secretary assured.
People should not get confused over the functioning of the BSKY until a new scheme is implemented by the new government, he added.
There were reports in the media that some private hospitals are refusing treatment to patients under BSKY scheme in the pretext of a change of government. The Health Department also earlier clarified that all BSKY beneficiaries will continue to avail cashless healthcare services.
“Hospitals have been sensitized to continue treatment to beneficiaries without any disruption. All claims raised by hospitals will be paid by SHAS as before,” the Health Department stated through ‘X’.
