Bhubaneswar: The state government celebrated the tenth International Yoga Day on June 21 on a grand scale at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, on Friday.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi performed different asanas as he led the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the stadium, on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, CM highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into every aspect of life for mental well-being.
“Yoga is essential for mental well-being. It is necessary to do yoga not only today but every day”, maintained Majhi.
He further said “Arrangements have been made to celebrate the International Yoga Day in different parts of the state. Ministers, MPs, and MLAs have graced the programmes as guests. This will definitely help in forming a new Odisha and a healthy Odisha.”
Taking to his X handle, CM also wrote: “Hearty congratulations and best wishes on International Yoga Day. Yoga is not only a physical practice but a transformative journey in daily lifestyle, which is very beneficial for one’s personal and social health. Yoga should be done for the well-being of self and society. Do yoga every day and stay healthy.”
The programme held at Kalinga Stadium was attended by the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Sports Secretary R Veenil Krishna apart from CM.
Besides, the event witnessed the presence of sportspersons and Odia film celebrities.
Notably, this year marks the 10th International Day of Yoga with the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’.
The state government has organised yoga programmes in Cuttack, Rourkela, Berhampur, Bolangir, Konark and Jaipur to mark the day.
