Bhubaneswar: A common cobra had a tough time after it swallowed a cough syrup bottle by mistaking it as its food. The incident has been reported in Bhubaneswar.
The bottle got stuck inside the jaw giving the reptile a hard time. The snake was seen trying hard to get it out of the mouth.
The reptile struggled for hours. Later, the locals informed the Snake helpline member. The snake rescuer and a member Suvendu Mallik reached the spot and widened the jaw of the snake swiftly giving a new lease of life to the creature.
The PCCF (wildlife) Susanta Nanda appreciated the efforts of the snake helpline member while posting a video of the act on his social media handle.
“A Common cobra swallowed a cough syrup bottle in Bhubaneswar & was struggling to regurgitate it. Volunteers from the snake helpline gently widened the lower jaw to free the rim of the base of the bottle with great risk & saved a precious life. Kudos.” the PPCF posted on ‘X’ with the video.
