Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials have unearthed assets worth crores of rupees during the ongoing search at seven locations of Pravas Kumar Pradhan, Superintendent Engineer, Irrigation Division, Balasore in connection with allegations over possession of disproportionate assets.
According to an official press release, Vigilance sleuths have unearthed a five-storeyed building of approximately 12,500 Sqft at Jaleswar; one market complex at Gobara Ghat, Jaleswar; 85 plots of which 80 plots in Jaleswar, 4 plots in Delanga, Puri and 1 plot in Sunakania, West Bengal having total sale deed value of over Rs 2.07 crore; Rs 11,70,980 in cash; gold ornaments weighing 334.55 gms and one gold biscuit; bank, postal and insurance deposits worth Rs 78,02,779; one four wheeler and one two-wheeler and household articles worth over Rs 6.63 lakh.
The release said that Pradhan is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets.
Further searches are underway and unearthing of more assets is likely and overall valuation is likely to increase, the release added.
The Vigilance conducted searches following the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Earlier, Pradhan served as the Chief Construction Engineer of Anandpur Barrage Project, Salapada, Keonjhar.
Seven teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising 2 Addl. SP, 4 DSPs, 6 Inspectors, 7 ASIs and other supporting staff conducted the search on the strength of ‘Search Warrants’ issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.
