Bhubaneswar: A gruesome murder incident occurred today after a group clash at Amritlu village under Sorada police station in Ganjam district, leaving one dead and another critically injured.
The deadly clash erupted during the Ganesh idol immersion procession when a heated exchange of words escalated into violence between the two groups. Two brothers, Babu and Jitu, were allegedly attacked by a group of people.
Babu succumbed to his injuries, while Jitu is fighting for his life in critical condition at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Jitu’s brother-in-law was also injured in the attack.
Police have rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. “We are investigating the incident and will take stern action against the culprits,” said a police official.
Tension prevailed in the area following the incident. Additional police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order in the region.
