Bhubaneswar: Railways authorities launched an investigation after reports of an alleged firing incident on the Nandankanan Express train surfaced. The incident occurred at approximately 9:45 am between Bhadrak and Baudapur sections, on Tuesday.
According to reports, at least two rounds of firing at the guard brake of train number 12816 Nandan Kanan Express were reported between Bhadrak and Baudapur sections. However, information in this regard was received from Khordha Road coaching control.
Following the incident, senior officials swiftly alerted relevant authorities, including the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police Service (GRPS), to ensure passengers’ safety.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) issued an official statement outlining the immediate actions taken, which included instructing PC/RPF/JJKR to attend to the train and PC/RPF/Bhadrak to investigate the incident.
“PC/RPF/JJKR was instructed to attend to the train, while PC/RPF/Bhadrak was directed to reach the location of the incident, coordinating closely with the Government Railway Police Service (GRPS) and local police,” read the statement.
