Jeypore: Hundreds of school uniform shoes and dresses bearing the logo “Ame Gadhibu Nua Odisha” were found dumped in a dump yard on the outskirts of Baipariguda in Koraput district.
Instead of distributing the uniforms and shoes provided by the government to school children, they were discarded. A cattle grazer spotted the dumped uniforms and informed others. Approximately 300 shoes and dress materials worth lakhs were recovered. The reason of the school dresses being dumped in abandoned places remains unclear.
The Block Education Officer was unavailable for comment. Notably, the School and Mass Education Department had announced a new uniform colour scheme for government and aided schools in the state in October.
