Bhubaneswar: The All India DGP/IGP conference has entered its second day at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

The three-day conference, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, brings together Directors-General of Police (DGPs) and Inspectors-General of Police (IGPs) from across India. Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Intelligence Bureau, and Central Armed Police Forces are also attending the conference.

As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the conference today, which focuses on discussing various aspects of internal security and law enforcement. Key discussion points include terrorism, left-wing extremism, cyber security, refugee issues, narcotics control, women’s safety, law and order management, and new crime laws.

The conference features thematic dining table sessions, business sessions, breakout sessions, and blueprint preparation to leverage technology in crime prevention and investigation. To facilitate in-depth discussions, 12 working groups have been formed to focus on specific topics and present their findings and recommendations.

Senior police officials will present their valuable opinions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on internal security and law enforcement issues, including maintaining law and order during emergency situations. This platform allows them to share their insights and experiences, facilitating collaborative efforts to address emerging security challenges, sources said.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made by Odisha Police to make the event successful. Security has been beefed up across the city including Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, state guest house, IPS mess and travel routes designated for VVIPs and other senior officials. As part of the security net, Central Reserve Police Force and Odisha Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel have been pressed into service in the capital city. The conference venue and surrounding areas have been sanitized, with multiple layers of security in place.

Prime Minister Modi’s presence is expected to provide valuable insights and guidance to the country’s top police officials. The conference aims to foster collaboration, share best practices, and develop strategies to address emerging security challenges.
