Bhubaneswar: Police arrested four persons for allegedly gang-raping a widow at Kalamati under Model Police Station in Deogarh district. The accused are Deepak Kindu of Jurimani village, Bindo Kidoo, Asish Xess, and Frasis Tappo of Kalamati village in the district.

According to police, Binod took the woman on his motorcycle, pretending to give her a lift, and on the way, his three other friends joined them. They took the widow to an undisclosed place near Kalamati, a few meters away from the national highway, and sexually assaulted her. The incident occurred on Thursday while the widow was returning from the daily local market.

Deogarh SP Anil Mishra said, “The victim, a widow from the Deogarh police station area, was returning from the daily market. One of the four accused took her on a motorcycle to a nearby location, where the other three accused joined them. They took her to an undisclosed place near the national highway. Our investigation revealed that they had all consumed alcohol before committing the crime. They all sexually assaulted her. We have seized the motorcycle, scooter, mobile phones, and other items from them. All four accused were arrested yesterday and forwarded to court today.”
