Unidentified Miscreants Hack Youth To Death In Rasulgarh, Three Detained

Bhubaneswar: In a horrific incident, a youth was hacked to death by unidentified attackers near Rasulgarh Square in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday morning. Neither the identity of the deceased nor the motive behind the murder is known.

The deceased youth has been identified as BMC Sanitation Employees Association president Sahadev Nayak. He also worked as a volunteer for the police. Three persons have been detained in connection with the crime and they are being interrogated.

According to reports, two miscreants came on a bike and attacked a youth with sharp weapons near the Rasulgarh flyover. The miscreants chopped the head of the youth resulting in his death on the spot. The police rushed to the spot after receiving the news of a headless body lying on the highway.

Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra said that the police have identified the attackers and have detained three persons in connection with the crime. “We are interrogating the detainees and will apprehend the criminals soon.

Meanwhile, the victim’s wife alleged that Sahadev was killed because he was fighting against drug menace in the area.

The gruesome incident has sent shockwaves in the city, especially ahead of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention which is being attended by 10,000 Diaspora and foreign guests.
