Bhubaneswar: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a stunning sand sculpture at Janata Maidan to welcome Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) attending the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar.
His artwork features a magnificent depiction of Lord Jagannath alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Odisha.
Taking to his X handle, Pattnaik wrote: “Jai Jagannath! Warmest welcome to Odisha for #PravasiBharatiyaDivas2025 I’m honored to showcase my sand sculpture at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, as a tribute to all delegates and esteemed guests, including Hon’ble PM @NarendraModi ji. #PBD2025”
The artist expressed his pride in Odisha hosting such a high-profile event, highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage.
It may be noted that this prestigious event, celebrating the contributions of the Indian diaspora, is being hosted in Odisha for the first time.
The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is a significant gathering, bringing together over 3,000 delegates from 70 countries to celebrate the Indian diaspora’s achievements and connections to their homeland.
The event is themed ‘Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat’ and will feature the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025, which will be conferred by President Murmu.
