Bhubaneswar: Puri district administration came up with elaborate arrangements for the sacred Magha Saptami Buda which is set to take place on February 4 at Konark.
As per reports, the district administration convened a meeting today at Konark Yatri Niwas to ensure a seamless experience for the pilgrims gathering to take a holy dip and witness the sacred ceremonial bath of Lord Chandrabhaga.
The coordination meeting attended by local MLAs, senior administrative officials, and top police officials reviewed arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event.
Annually more than 1 lakh people take holy dip in the confluence of Chandrabhaga River and the Bay of Bengal. This year’s event is expected to draw over three lakh devotees, according to the district administration.
To manage the crowds, the administration has decided to deploy 33 platoons of police forces, 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police, and 26 Inspectors In Charge (IICs), along with additional police officers from the Puri district to maintain law and order.
At the 2nd coordination meeting, representatives from various departments deliberated on key arrangements for the upcoming event, including barricade construction, sanitation and lighting facilities, drinking water supply, CCTV installation, and traffic management.
It is pertinent to mention that devotees take holy baths and offer prayers on Magha Saptami as it is believed that it would cleanse them of diseases and wash away their sins.
