Jeypore: In a dramatic incident, a young man jumped into the water reservoir off the Timbar Bridge on the Koraput-Sunabedha National Highway in Koraput district on Friday.
The young man, identified as Madan Jani, jumped into the reservoir in front of his father.
According to eyewitnesses, Madan was riding a scooter back from Chikapar, with his father following closely behind on a bike. In a desperate bid to save his son, the father stopped Madan just before he took the fatal leap.
Madan, a resident of Janiguda in Koraput, worked as a security guard. The reason behind his sudden decision to jump into the reservoir remains unclear.
A search operation is currently underway by the Similiguda Fire Department. Sunabedha police are also present at the scene.
