Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths arrested the Managing Director of Raiboga LAMPCS Ltd under Kuarmunda Block in Sundargarh for misappropriation of government funds of Rs.40,68,000.

The accused MD, Chitta Ranjan Mohanty, misappropriated the funds by showing fake excess expenditure in the Day Book of Raiboga LAMPCS during the financial year 2019-2020 & 2023-2024.

He has been forwarded today to the Court special Judge Vigilance.

Enquiry reveals that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Sundargarh District Central Co-operative (SDCC) Bank Ltd., Sundargarh Branch had issued several letters to Mohanty categorically mentioning for recovery of the excess amount of Rs.43,02,000.

But on verification of the records of the CEO, SDCC Bank Ltd, Sundargarh by the officers of Odisha Vigilance, it is found that Rs.40,68,000 is to be recovered from Chitta Ranjan Mohanty instead of Rs.43,02,000 because of wrong calculation made by the SDCC Bank.

During further enquiry, it is ascertained that Mohanty has neither deposited Rs.40,68,000/- in SDCC Bank Ltd, Sundargarh nor produced any documents / supporting vouchers connected to excess expenditure incurred by him which amounts to his criminal misconduct, causing wrongful loss to the Government exchequer.

In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance registered a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) PC (Amendment) Act, 2018/409 IPC has been registered against Mohanty.
