Bhubaneswar: The preparations for the Bahuda Yatra (Return Car Festival) are set to begin with the ‘Dakhina Moda’ ritual being performed today.
During this significant ceremony, the chariots of the sibling deities will be turned southward towards the Jagannath Temple, marking the start of their journey back to the sanctum sanctorum.
As per the tradition, the ritual will commence after the Agyaan Mala (garland of consent) is brought from the Gundicha Temple. The chariots of Goddess Subhadra, Lord Balabhadra, and Lord Jagannath will be turned in a specific order, signifying the traditional practices of the Rath Yatra. The Bahuda Yatra is scheduled to take place on July 5.
Since their arrival in Gundicha Temple, the sibling deities have been giving darshan to devotees at Adapa Mandapa. After the Dakhina Moda ritual, a special rahas ceremony will be conducted on Adapa Mandapa.
Meanwhile, Hera Panchami ritual was conducted even by 12 midnight on the fifth day of the annual chariot festival in the Pilgrim Town on Tuesday.
During this ritual, Goddess Laxmi, wife of Lord Jagannath visited Gundicha Temple and broke a portion of the chariot of Lord Jagan Agyaan Mala from Lord Jagannath, Goddess Laxmi returned to the Jagannath Temple via the Heragauri Sahi route.”
