Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Warning for parts of Odisha as a low-pressure area over southwest Gangetic West Bengal continues to impact weather conditions across the state. The system is likely to move slowly west-northwestward across Jharkhand and north Chhattisgarh over the next two days, bringing with it extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
According to the IMD’s latest bulletin issued at 1:30 PM on July 6, the monsoon trough and an associated cyclonic circulation are fueling widespread rainfall activity in Odisha. The trough currently extends from Sri Ganganagar to northeast Bay of Bengal, passing through the center of the low-pressure area.
