Baripada: A Class VIII student from a government-run residential girls’ school (Sevashram) Bangiriposhi police station in Mayurbhanj district, has been found to be two months pregnant.
The incident came to light when the minor girl, residing in the school’s hostel, fell ill and was taken to the Bangiriposhi Community Health Centre by the school headmaster. A medical examination revealed that the student was approximately two months pregnant. Upon questioning by the headmaster, the girl disclosed that she had engaged in a consensual relationship with a minor boy from her village during a visit home on leave, which led to physical intercourse.
The girl’s mother was immediately informed, and she lodged a formal complaint with the Bangiriposhi police. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case
The accused minor boy was summoned to the police station for questioning, and investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
