Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on vehicle theft, the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack on Saturday arrested five persons for their involvement in stealing motorcycles across the city.
The accused have been identified as Ashutosh, Jagannath Behera, Rajendra Behera, Pratyush Kumar Singh, and Ranjit Kumar Behera.
According to police, two separate police stations carried out the operations. Badagada Police Station recovered 11 stolen two-wheelers and arrested four persons, while Bharatpur Police Station recovered four two-wheelers and arrested one accused.
A total of 15 stolen motorcycles have been recovered so far.
“Today, we will be contacting the rightful owners to return their recovered vehicles. I commend the efforts of the IICs of both Badagada and Bharatpur police stations for their swift and effective action,” said Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of Police, S. Dev Datta Singh, while briefing the media.
Further investigation is underway to trace any additional links to the theft racket.
