Bhubaneswar: In preparation for the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the Commissionerate Police has made elaborate security arrangements across Bhubaneswar, with the deployment of 21 platoons of police force to ensure smooth and peaceful proceedings.
Addressing the media, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena informed that, in addition to the platoons, a multi-layered security setup would be in place around the main venue at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, where the official state-level celebrations will take place.
“In total, 21 platoons will be deployed. Supporting them will be five DCP-rank officers, five Additional DCPs, eight ACPs, 21 Inspectors, and more than 100 officers of Sub-Inspector or ASI rank,” said DCP Meena. “We are ensuring tight security not just at the main venue, but also in all public galleries, nearby roads, and major junctions,” he added.
The police have also put special focus on traffic and crowd management. DCP Traffic is overseeing traffic diversions and parking arrangements to avoid congestion during the event.
“We have also deployed officers at all major chowks and routes leading to the venue to ensure smooth movement and public safety. Our goal is to conduct the event without any disturbance or inconvenience to citizens,” Meena noted.
Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh also reviewed the preparations and stated that comprehensive measures are being taken to manage both security and public convenience.
“From traffic control and deployment of personnel to ensuring that citizens can enjoy the parade peacefully, all arrangements are in place. This day holds pride for every Indian and we are committed to maintaining dignity and discipline throughout the celebrations,” said Singh.
The Commissionerate Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with security personnel and follow traffic advisories.
