Football Player Dies During Councillor Cup Match In Deogarh

Bhubaneswar: A footballer died while playing in a match of the Councillor Cup Tournament at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Deogarh district on Sunday.

The footballer has been identified as Prakash Nayak of Bhuyan Sahi.

According to reports, Nayak was representing Deogarh Municipality Ward No. 2 in a match against Ward No. 7. While the match was underway, he suddenly fell ill and collapsed on the field. He was immediately rushed to the Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where doctors declared him dead.

A pall of gloom has descended over the area following the incident.
